Geschichte einmal anders oder What about some Austrian History?

A project connecting students, teachers and two subjects – this can all be done on one day in Vienna!

The 7C of the BORG Krems spent a whole day in Vienna together with their History and English teachers. Not only that the Austrian History – at least some parts – had to be presented in English, furthermore every conversation of that day had to be in English! And you know what? – It worked!

A couple of weeks before that day, the class were divided into seven groups. Five of these groups had to think of a historical aspect in Vienna to the following headings: HIGH, LOW, NEW, OLD and POLITICS. The other two groups had to organize the whole day and produce a pamphlet containing the most important information.

The day in Vienna was one of the hottest days in June! Nevertheless, all tried to give their best and ignored the heat while walking &hdash; being almost lost – through Vienna, from the first district to the twenty-first! Here are some of the stations they have chosen: Karl-Marx-yard, underground system, Michaela’s square, House of parliament, Mumok, House of Hundertwasser and Danube’s tower.

Tired but satisfied the class can look back on a quite different project combining subjects, skills and presenting knowledge!

Maybe this will and can happen again!
